Problem-solving

Decision-making is essentially problem-solving.

Even though it can be lengthy and time consuming, I tend to engage in (upfront) systematic diagnostic processes through intense investigation.

A structured approach that rules out obvious, easy answers.

I recommend the use of decision/logic trees. It offers a useful way of breaking down a problem into consequences and options.

The 7-steps process, develoed by two ex McKinsey (see diagram) is very effective.

The story telling helps with the ‘show & tell’ of the results. People can track the process and follow the conclusions.
