To drill into asset (under-) performance, you need to embed the tools and skills to retrieve deeply buried data better than your competitors through a focused data mining method.

Business intelligence (BI) tools help to make sense of the bigger picture:

• to dig out minute and detailed data to identify trends
• to improve decision making based on actual data
• to pinpoint areas of low performance and subsequent value recovery

There are several BI tools available such as Power BI, Tableau and Looker.

I prefer Power BI as it integrates well with Excel.
